The Connected Urban Development (CUD) program was born from Cisco's commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative. The speaker will discuss on how ICT can be used to create more sustainable and greener community, along with development of effective green ICT policy.

Mr. Tay Chong Yoke joined Systems Engineer 1998, later as Manager - Systems Engineers and at present as a Technical Director of Cisco Systems.  Before joining Cisco, he was working as a systems Engineer in Madge Network since 1996.  Mr. Tay graduated from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale 1983 - 1987.

This talk will provide an overview on how Cloud Computing can be applied to learning institutions and education.  Leveraging the benefits of Cloud Computing architecture and technologies, the education sector can enjoy the benefits of deploying Cloud as part of the delivery system, improving productivity, efficiency and cost.

Mr. Ku Chuan Cherng is the Country Cloud Leader for IBM Malaysia; hold the responsibility to drive the understanding and adoption of cloud computing in country.  In his role, he works with major clients and partners, to develop leading edge cloud solutions to meet the needs of the industry and to collaborate to build a marketplace for cloud. Ku has over 20 years of professional experience in IT industry, with roles from technical to sales and managerial functions.  He has broad experience in enterprise architecture, dynamic infrastructure and systems technology. Ku has a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Malaya.

Title: Cloud: Another Cornerstone in the computing Industry


Cloud computing is a pay-per-use model for enabling available, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction (NIST National Institute of Standards & Technology). The talk includes the technical architecture of Cloud Computing based on the Microsoft Azure platform.

Demo: The Windows Azure Platform is an application platform from Microsoft which provides a cloud operating system that serves as a runtime for applications. This demo shows how cloud application can be developed using the Windows Azure IDE.

Mr. Michael Coleman

Mr. Michael Coleman is a Principal Architect, Systems, Asia Pacific. He is broadly responsible for Data Centre Consolidation, Virtualization and Efficiency opportunities within Key accounts across Asia Pacific countries.

As a member of the Asia Pacific HQ Architects team he works within these accounts in a strategic capacity as technical adviser to ensure that customer requirements are accurately translated into Oracle solutions. In this role, Michael provides technical executive coverage by maintaining a work relationship with the CIO/CTO.

Prior to joining Oracle Michael spent 15 years with Sun Microsystems where he gained extensive experience in providing complex infrastructure solutions and Data Centre architectures.

Michael has also worked extensively in the Government and Telecommunications sectors in Australia and New Zealand and has been engaged in opportunities throughout the Asia Pacific region and West Africa.

In particular, Michael has worked as a Senior Consultant with Huawei Technologies in Nigeria advising Tier 1 Telecommunications Carriers MTN Nigeria, Etisalat and Zain on Modular Data Centre design principles and techniques. He has also been involved with the Telstra Modular Data Centre (POD) installed in Haymarket Sydney. Other Data Centre activities that Michael has been involved with include infrastructure consolidations throughout Australia New Zealand most notably Sydney Water, New Zealand Police, Accident and Compensation Commission (New Zealand) Telecom New Zealand and Commonwealth Bank (Australia). He is currently engaged on Data Centre consolidation justification reviews with Dept of Defense, Air New Zealand and Vodafone.

Topic 1: Beyond the Hype: Advanced Persistent Threats

Businesses face a constantly evolving threat landscape. One of the greatest challenges is presented by advanced persistent threats (APTs), which are sophisticated, multi-faceted attacks targeting a particular organization. Mitigating the risk of APTs requires advances beyond traditional layered security to include real-time threat management. Explore with Trend Micro to further describes the nature of APTs, the risks they pose to businesses, and techniques for blocking, detecting and containing APT and other emerging threats.

Over the years, he has served in Technical Account Manager, where he has supported corporate customers and partners from the Asia South countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. During this tenure he has served clients within the Education, Insurance, Financial, Banking, Healthcare, Hospitality & Travel, Telecommunication & Wireless Technology, Retail, Warehousing and Manufacturing verticals primarily in South East Asia market and including Fortune 100 companies.

Currently, SC LAW is based in Trend Micro South East Asia Unit as Technical Consultant. He plays a vital role in providing technical and consulting experience including the architecture, design and configuration of technology environments using Trend Micro Enterprise Security approach. 

His current focus will be building channel pre-sales expertise solution knowledge domain. While Trend Micro customer may enjoy the finest support and improve the solution experience

He is also one of the certifying engineers on the Trend Micro Security Expert (TCSE) certification program and Trend Micro Certified Antivirus Professional (TCAP).




Mr. Hussein Mohd Ali

Mr. Hussein Mohd Ali provides pre-sales consultancy on business issues in the Government, Education and Healthcare sector.  His primary responsibilities include assisting customers in adopting the virtualization and cloud computing journey in a holistic and structured approach. He has close to 9 years in the IT industry within a technical role capacity dealing in systems management solution, ERP application, systems integration and infrastructure projects which includes server, storage and network. He was previously attached to Symantec as a technical consultant helping customers resolve key security and data availability challenges.
